Black and White plaid shirt

This week I made this cosy tunic in a warm black and white plaid wool. I had this fabric on my stash for about a year waiting for a project and here it is, December is time for plaid πŸ™‚ .

For this project, I used an old dress pattern from BurdaStyle PT for the body and shoulders parts, kept the raglan sleeve but customised the length to make a small bell sleeve that would feet inside a coat πŸ™‚ I really love big bell sleeves but they are not something practical that I could wear on regular basis, which was something that I wanted, a basic wool tunic to keep me warm.

As I was cutting the fabric I realised that this plaid fabric was aΒ little difficult to work with and to prevent it from unravelling and to stabilise it, I decided to add lining. Unfortunately, I didn’t cut it in a single layer which would give this project a better alignment L. But in general, I’m pleased with the tunic and think the back and white plaid goes well with a red coat

Plaid works well in such a wide variety of styles, have you ever tried sewing a plaid garment? How did it turn out?

Take care
